How many times do you have to engage your keyless remote to open your car doors? Once. Correct?
How many times do you have to engage Jesus as your Lord and Savior to open the gates of Heaven? Once. Correct?
I had a "God moment" the other day as I was walking towards my car in a parking lot.
I was still a good distance from the car when I pushed the unlock button on my keyless entry remote. I was amazed that my taillights flashed. After all, I wasn't even close to the car.
The thought occurred to me that not only do we have to ask Jesus Christ to be our Lord and Savior only once. We also don't have to wait until we are close to our time of death to do so.
Jesus is waiting near our eternal parking space bearing our name that he's prepared for us, to flash his glorious eyes and say the gates of Heaven are open for us to enter.
God's Words
"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him." (John 3:16-17)
"My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you?" (John 14:2))
"But, as it is written, 'What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love him'”— (1 Corinthians 2:9)

In the Words of Others
"Aim at heaven and you will get earth thrown in. Aim at earth and you get neither." C.S. Lewis
"I find the great thing in this world is not so much where we stand, as in what direction we are moving: To reach the port of heaven, we must sail sometimes with the wind and sometimes against it - but we must sail, and not drift, nor lie at anchor." Oliver Wendell Homes Sr.
In Your Words
Have you let the Lord Jesus to reserve as parking space for you in his heavenly kingdom? If so, why not?
Reflect on the scriptures cited. If the Bible is the true Word of God, why would anyone doubt his marvelous promises in these scripture?
Consider the Oliver Wendell Holmes Sr. quote. What does he mean by suggesting we should not lie at anchor in this world?
